The Computer Technology Endorsement Preparation non-degree program is intended for teachers who plan to teach computer applications or who want to assume technology coordinator positions in a school or at the school district level.

This endorsement must be added to an existing teaching license and cannot be obtained independently as a separate licensure. Students who hold a master’s degree in education or another appropriate field may be able to earn the endorsement with this non-degree program. Students without a master's degree may work toward both a master’s degree and the endorsement by applying to the , Computer Technology Endorsement Preparation concentration.

• Minimum 2.750 GPA on a 4.000-point scale (last degree)

• Evidence of valid Resident Educator or Professional State of Ohio teaching license

The Computer Technology Endorsement Preparation non-degree program has received national accreditation from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the professional organization that reviews licensure programs for the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Full Description

The Teaching and Learning with Technology undergraduate certificate provides students with the tools to acquire the knowledge and concrete skills to deploy educational technology theories and strategies in multiple fields while working at educational institutions, communication-related companies, public health entities and other industries.

This certificate is for both students in an education or non-education field. Education students will strengthen their know-how in learning innovations while being exposed to interdisciplinary stimuli and references and expanding their professional and academic horizon. Non-education students will access the most recent best practices in educational technology, applying them in their own field of reference and beyond.

Admission Requirements

The university affirmatively strives to provide educational opportunities and access to students with varied backgrounds, those with special talents and adult students.

First-Year Students on the Kent Campus: First-year admission policy on the Kent Campus is selective. Admission decisions are based upon cumulative grade point average, strength of high school college preparatory curriculum and grade trends. Students not admissible to the Kent Campus may be administratively referred to one of the seven regional campuses to begin their college coursework. For more information, visit the .

First-Year Students on the Regional Campuses: First-year admission to ���Ĵ�ý’s campuses at Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga, Salem, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas, as well as the Twinsburg Academic Center, is open to anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent. International Students: All international students must provide proof of proficiency of the English language (unless they meet specific exceptions) through the submission of an English language proficiency test score or by completing English language classes at ���Ĵ�ý’s English as a Second Language Center before entering their program. Former Students: Former ���Ĵ�ý students who have not attended another institution since ���Ĵ�ý and were not academically dismissed will complete the re-enrollment process through the Financial, Billing and Enrollment Center. Former students who attended another college or university since leaving ���Ĵ�ý must apply for admissions as a transfer or post-undergraduate student.

This minor is for both students in an education or non-education major. Education students will strengthen their know-how in learning innovations while being exposed to interdisciplinary stimuli and references and expanding their professional and academic horizon. Non-education students will access the most recent best practices in educational technology, applying them in their own field of reference and beyond.

Admission Requirements

Admission to a minor is open to students declared in a bachelor’s degree, the A.A.B. or A.A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree (not Individualized Program major). Students declared only in the A.A. or A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree in Individualized Program may not declare a minor. Students may not pursue a minor and a major in the same discipline.

To declare this minor, students must have attempted a minimum 12 credit hours at ���Ĵ�ý and earned a minimum 2.000 overall ���Ĵ�ý GPA. Students who have not attempted 12 credit hours at ���Ĵ�ý will be evaluated for admission based on their high school GPA for new students or transfer GPA for transfer students. Transfer students who have not attempted 12 credit hours of college-level coursework at ���Ĵ�ý and/or other institutions will be evaluated based on both their high school GPA and college GPA.
